Tuningen. The concept of the BODYGUARD of U-Turn stands for a lot of flight fun on a very high safety level. Now The Bodyguard 3 is available which combines the automatic flight stabilization AFS with the PPN system and pushes the design level one step further.
The Integration of the PPN system (precision profile nose) is the most obvious sign of the improved glider. Instead of using the heavy mylar now plastic reinforcements of newest generation are used. The weight of the BODYGUARD is therewith significant reduced. Another weight reduction comes from the new designed crossports. U-Turn Chief designer Ernst Strobl optimized these cell openings for cross ventilation. In the BODYGUARD 3 differ the crossports depending on if there are lines attached to the ribs or not.
The cause fort he changed crossports wasn’t weight reduction, but instead the better filling while inflating the wing and the better internal pressure in flight”, so Strobel. Together with the AFS of newest generation the BODYGUARD 3 offers an increased security level and better performance, more direct feedback and handiness. “In particular beginners and pilots not flying regularly will appreciate the maximal uncomplicated starting” announces Strobl. The intelligent trimming turns the more performance directly into agile maneuverability reacting more direct as it was on its predecessor.
The use of the lighter NCV Material supports this agility without trade off in durability. In the topsail 40gramm fabric is used, in the bottom sail 36gramm. So pilots profit from the progress in material research. This is valid for the lines too. The BODYGUARD 3 is completely made of Liros-lines. This reduces stretching and gives better performance. The 10 cm longer B-riser is proven and kept like as in the BG3. The B-flight offers full maneuverability at a sink rate about 5 meters per second. The maneuver is easy to initiate and weariness to maintain
This improvement will help to expand its reputation as a favored glider for training and beginners. He is now available in attractive colors. The BODYGUARD 3 is so safe because Designer Ernst Strobl takes into account the experience from the flight instructors and thousands of trainees of the U-Turn competence centers and this knowledge flows in the new glider.
